The Valletta Rehabilitation Project within the Ministry of Resources and the Infrastructure has completed the restoration of the corner statue of St Joseph in West Street, Valletta. It was restored under the direction of architect Chanelle Busuttil of the restoration unit. The work was done by works division personnel.

The statue was placed in the corner in 1754 and its pedestal was hit and damaged by a lorry recently. The restoration process revealed that the sculpture was originally coloured but there was not enough evidence how it was coloured.

Thus, it was decided that it would be left in a natural stone colour.

The statue's restoration is part of an ongoing project to restore the corner statues of Valletta and Floriana.
