Square Obstructions

Outdoor tables and chairs stretching out from restaurant in Victory Square, Xaghra, managed to obstruct the band march at the weekend's feast.

Members of the feast committee took it upon themselves to remove the obstructions so that the bandsmen could make their way through.

One angry resident said: "Never in a lifetime has access to go round the cross and the monument been denied. The people of Xaghra are furious and utterly disappointed with the authorities and the local council for miserably failing to give the 'occupied' part of the square back to the people".
