Three Red Cross volunteers, Etienne Micallef, Leonard Tabone and Alexandra Vassallo, have attended a paramedic emergency medical technician basic course in Germany organised by the German Red Cross Koln Branch.

Besides the course, the volunteers had a chance to practise their skills in a disaster response simulation and by working in shifts in an emergency ambulance.

Mr Tabone and Ms Vassallo qualified as emergency medical technician - basic, whereas Etienne Micallef renewed his paramedic instructor rating.

In the past the German Red Cross helped the Malta Red Cross in technical and equipment assistance.

Etienne Micallef, secretary of the Malta Red Cross said that joint ventures were being planned to help in the further development of the Gozo Branch.
