The Kingfisher Sport Fishing Association is holding its annual fishing marathon along the promenade at Marsascala starting at 6 p.m. on Friday and ending 48 hours later on Sunday.
Proceeds from the marathon will go towards the multi sensory unit being built by Razzett tal-Hbiberija at Marsascala.
A spokesman for the association said that last year the marathon was also in aid of the unit but more money was needed.
Forty anglers divided into teams of four will be participating.
As in previous years the fish caught will be treated gingerly - they will be unhooked and placed in elongated keep nets as deep as possible in the water. The fishes are weighed every three hours and released.
The marathon in itself is a competition according to the weight landed.
The angler landing the biggest fish will also get a mention and a prize.
Vouchers will also be given to the top three collectors - the persons who collect the largest sum by means of the sponsor sheet, which would have been distributed to all members 30 days prior to the marathon.
Entertainment will also be provided during the evening.
Donations can either be handed in personally on location or pledged via SMS on the following numbers: Lm1 - 617513; Lm2 - 618021; Lm3 - 618844.
