The International Institute for Baroque Studies promotes the pursuit of interdisciplinary academic studies on various aspects of Baroque culture by serving as a focal centre for both local and foreign scholars involved in research in this field, enabling them to disseminate their work both to fellow academics and to the general public.
In addition, an important aim of the Institute is to provide advice and assistance in the conservation of the local Baroque heritage and to initiate and constitute a research resource centre on Baroque art and architecture including a database and reference index of existing publications on the Baroque era with special emphasis on Maltese Baroque.
In this respect, the International Institute for Baroque Studies works in close liaison with similar centres for Baroque studies overseas and regularly organises symposia, lectures and exhibitions which will lead to a greater appreciation of Baroque culture.
