The Law Compliance Unit of the Employment and Training Corporation said it discovered 249 people working illegally in Gozo.

Inspectors entered 97 restaurants and hotels employing a total of 536 people.

A total of 235 were not registered with the corporation, 10 were registering for employment and working, while four were under age.

The corporation said it would be taking the necessary action against the establishments concerned. Those who were registered and found to be working will be struck off the register.

The corporation said the public can report illegal workers on freephone 80076501.
