No wonder - I suppose that Fr Fsadni as a priest and a Christian must feel pretty embarrassed to be involved in this very pagan way of doing things. An "offering" is what one gives without expecting anything in return - otherwise it is no offering at all! Money should never be a consideration in choosing who carries the statue of Our Lady - if anything it is the poorest and least influential who should be given precedence.

The two photos accompanying the text made me think of Christ driving those who were making money of selling offerings at the temple.

What a shame that this mentality, so harmful to the image of our faith still persists 2000 years after Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself made the first attempt to suppress this behaviour!
