Go Mobile recently opened its high-tech demonstration centre - Go Lab. Located in the company's head office in Marsa, Go Lab is the place where customers can experiment hands-on with the latest technologies such as Wireless LAN (or WiFi) and MMS and m-vending.
The aim of Go Lab is to provide customers with an experience of present and future mobile applications. Go Mobile CEO Professor Juanito Camilleri explained that Go Lab is not just about allowing people to play games on a laptop. "In actual fact, Go Lab gives people the power to interact with the various technologies currently available as well as those that are in the making," he said.
The current applications available in Go Lab cover all aspects of wireless connectivity to the Internet/Intranet via one's SIM card and a PC wireless card. These include all Go Online services, such as GPRS and WLAN. Customers can try out each technology by surfing the net via GPRS or WLAN.
"Go Mobile is the only local mobile phone operator that allows customers to seamlessly use GPRS and WLAN when the latter is not available. Go Mobile has WLAN hotspots in several five-star hotels in Malta and Gozo as well as in several areas in Valletta. When one leaves these WLAN hotspots, Go Mobile customers can still access the net via GPRS," Professor Camilleri said.
Another innovative feature is m-vending. This allows customers to pay for items available in a vending machine via SMS.
Go Lab's stylish and modern design makes it a very attractive demo centre. Customers can meet Go Mobile representatives who will show them around the centre and let them experiment with the various applications.
Professor Camilleri said: "Go Mobile does not simply sell technology, but a range of customised services. Go Lab is crucial in making a wide range of potential applications based on the technologies more accessible and understandable to prospective clients."
