Gozo minister Giovanna Debono has inaugurated a newly refurbished medical clinic in Ghasri.

The clinic was opened on the initiative of the council and the minister hoped other councils would take Ghasri's example and give the required importance to the social sector of their residents.

Ghasri mayor Andrew Vella said the new clinic was completely accessible to the disabled and the elderly.

Work on the modernisation of the clinic, which incorporated a waiting room, was carried out by government employees loaned to the council through the Gozo Ministry.

The new clinic, which was to be open to the public Mondays to Fridays, is in Saviour Square.

Mr Vella said other initiatives currently taking place in Ghasri included a summer school for the children of the locality and the rebuilding of part of il-Fanal Street.
