Singer Lawrence Gray recently placed first with the song 'Meant To Be' at the Voice of Asia Festival in Kazakstan.

The song was written by Philip Vella and composed together with Mr Gray, who was also awarded second place as best singer, and the special journalists' award as best voice.

The Voice of Asia Festival, held earlier this month, hosted 18 singers from Europe and Asia.

Mr Gray interpreted three songs, 'Reminiscing', written by Godwin Sant and composed by Philip Vella, 'Heat Wave', written by Gerard James Borg and composed by Philip Vella, and 'Meant To Be' which won the best composition award.

Mr Gray was accompanied by Maltasong secretary Martin Gauci.
