Without wanting to call Kenneth Zammit Tabona's contribution "ridiculous", I seriously question his argument! Firstly, I think that our capital city is called Valletta and not La Valette. Secondly, all official documentation bears this name and no one is confuting it! Thirdly, what has calling our capital endearingly il-Belt, got to do with whether the particular town should be officially referred to as Sliema or Tas-Sliema?
