Two divers were yesterday rescued by an Armed Forces of Malta patrol boat after being reported overdue while they were diving off St Paul's islands.

The AFM Operation Centre at Luqa Barracks was informed at 10.15 a.m. that the two young Maltese divers were overdue.

The AFM dispatched a Bulldog aircraft, patrol boat and dinghy with three divers.

After 30 minutes, the aircraft spotted the two divers swimming towards a small boat that happened to be in the area.

The patrol boat was diverted to them and the master confirmed that they were the divers who were overdue. The two youths were taken on board the patrol boat and conveyed to Bugibba. No medical assistance was required.
