HSBC Cares for Children Fund is, for the third consecutive year, sponsoring the Ministry of Education's Klabbsajf programme.

The programme, which over the past two years has attracted a good number of students, forms part of Skolasajf. Tony Vella Gregory, HSBC's Southern Area manager, presented the sponsorship to Education Minister Louis Galea.

"Klabbsajf has grown in popularity over the past two years and I'm certain that its success will continue to grow throughout this summer. Through this HSBC Cares for Children Fund sponsorship, the students are able to benefit from new teaching aids, books, videos and other educational games, which will help provide them with plenty of interesting activities throughout the long summer holidays," Mr Vella Gregory said.

The Skolasajf programme is aimed at primary school children in years 4, 5 and 6, and complements what the children learn throughout the scholastic year. Activities are being held at several schools throughout Malta and Gozo, from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and noon.

The programme will run until September 9. Klabbsajf is a specific programme within Skolasajf aimed at those year 2 children who, in the previous scholastic year, made use of the additional help service.

"Klabbsajf has helped many children to improve their vocabulary and their reading skills through informal story-telling and plays," Mr Vella Gregory said.

"The HSBC Cares for Children Fund has worked tirelessly over the three years to provide educational opportunities to those children, who need them most and will therefore, continue to give its support to Klabbsajf."
