Veteran midfielder Jesmond Delia is set to rejoin Premier League club Floriana.

Delia has already agreed a one-year contract with Floriana while the latter reached a verbal agreement with Pietà Hotspurs for the 36-year-old's transfer.

Msida St Joseph were considered favourites to land Delia's signature but his proposed move hit a snag over some documents which eventually led to the collapse of his transfer. During his one-year loan spell at Msida last season, Delia helped the team clinch promotion to the Premier League as Division One champions.

Delia, a prominent member of the Floriana squad in the midnineties, was expected to report for his first training session with the Greens yesterday evening.

Ironically, Delia may find himself making his debut for Floriana in Monday's Carlsberg Tournament match against Msida St Joseph.

On Wednesday, Floriana atoned for their 5-1 rout to Marsaxlokk by beating tournament hosts Hibernians 2-0.

Floriana are also soon expected to make a final decision on their third foreigner for next season. Club spokesman Trevor Zahra confirmed that Brazilian midfielder Rocha Da Silva has impressed during his trial with their senior team and is likely to be offered a contract.

Zahra admitted that their chances of capturing former England and Manchester United midfielder Lee Sharpe were slim due to the expensive demands of the 32-year-old player. He added that the club were also unlikely to pursue further interest in former Valletta striker Chris Oretan.

Floriana are expected to take disciplinary action against midfielder Jonathan Holland for what Zahra described as 'unprofessional behaviour' before Wednesday's Carlsberg Tournament match against Hibernians.

Holland, who was yesterday included in Malta's 20-man squad for Tuesday's friendly international in Luxembourg, was reportedly disappointed to have been left out of the starting formation and walked out on the team.

Hogg's trial

Meanwhile, Pietà Hotspurs goalkeeper Andrew Hogg was last night expected to play for the primavera side of Bari in a friendly match against Sora.

Hogg joined Bari for a short trial at the start of the week after spending an 11-day training camp with Pietà in Chianciano Termi.

Sources said that the 18-year-old goalkeeper has left a very good impression during his trial but the Bari coaching staff are expected to make a decision in the coming days whether to request his services or not.
