The Union Haddiema Maghqudin has joined the Health Division in its appeal for the proper use of ambulances by the public.

The union said ambulance drivers had always obeyed instructions given to them while on duty. But public cooperation was important to ensure that ambulances were used only by persons who really needed the service.

Earlier this week the division said the use of its ambulances and other vehicles used by patients had become the subject of general abuse or misuse.

The division ruled that only emergency cases and certain categories of outpatients would be eligible for hospital transport from September 1.
