Nurse 'shortage' at Mount Carmel

The General Workers' Union has called for a number of newly appointed nurses to be assigned to Mount Carmel Hospital, which it said was in dire need of nurses.

The union said that because of the shortage, nurses were having to cancel their leave and applications for leave were only being approved on the morning of the day in question.

The union also complained that the situation was being made worse by a restriction on overtime, adding that until the shortage was solved, overtime should be given.
