The internet portal www.di-ve.com will be organising its first Local Area Network (LAN) party event at St James Cavalier, Valletta between August 22-24.
The event marks the portal's success in providing the gaming community with the chance to play a number of games with multi-player facility against other players over the internet via a broadband connection by hosting these games on its servers. The service is free of charge.
During this month's event gamers are urged to bring their PCs to a central location and spend a weekend of gaming together.
The number of internet gamers utilising di-ve's gaming servers to play against others from the comfort of their home has grown significantly since the portal launched this service a year ago.
The section is frequented by enthusiasts of all ages and the LAN event will allow them to meet their competitors face-to-face and show off their skills.
Di-ve's brand executive, Jes Camilleri, said that because of the dramatic increase in popularity of the portal's gaming section the company saw fit to bring the cream of Maltese gamers together in one location to battle it out over three days.
This special LAN set-up will also offer the public the chance to witness this growing phenomenon.
