Financial Controllers and senior executives from Corinthia Hotels International's head office in Malta and 22 hotels in Europe and elsewhere attended the company's second international finance conference in Attard last week.

The main theme of the internal three-day event, held at the Corinthia Palace Hotel, was The Financial Controller - a Changing Role.

There were presentations on the key objectives and changing roles of financial managers, corporate governance, business development, authority manuals, information technology management, cost-control pitfalls, work ethics and finance for the non-accountant.

Marketing plans and hotel budgets for 2004 were discussed.

The conference was also an opportunity for overseas participants to meet their Maltese counterparts on a social level and experience Malta's attractions.

Besides Malta, the financial controllers and executives came from hotels in Belgium, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Libya, Portugal, Russia, The Gambia, Togo, Turkey and Tunisia.
