I refer to the letter by Emmanuel Mallia (August 4). He sure is a lucky man. He suggested to talk to the mayor to solve any problems in our area. We have not only spoken to him but also wrote numerous letters duly signed by residents of our area. He never showed up let alone bother. I am referring to the nightmare we residents of Glormu Cassar and Anglu Gatt streets are daily encountering.
We have complained about the rubbish dump which builds up daily. Rats, insects galore and stagnant water, which remains locked between pavements after a downpour and dries up after days, are orders of the day. But these are irrelevant compared to the danger we are daily encountering.
This is due to the fact that the mayor's predecessor had turned Eucharistic Congress Road into a one way, exiting Mosta instead of entering. This meant that our streets, which were secondary and quiet roads, became thoroughfares with traffic proceeding through them to enter into the centre of Mosta.
Heavy vehicles, which are prohibited from proceeding into our streets, brush between our parked vehicles sometimes scratching them in the process.
Then there is the nightmare of cars coming from Independence Avenue into Glormu Cassar Street and driving in a dangerous manner and at an excessive speed just to show off their drivers' ability.
We can only wonder where the mayor is.
