The Ministry for the Environment and Rural Affairs is launching awareness campaigns on animal welfare and marine conservation.
A spokesman for the ministry said that as from today, state television will start airing spots as part of the campaigns.
In the spot on animal welfare, a dog is seen driving a woman in a car and then abandoning her before driving away, to bring out the cruelty of abandoning pets. "Do you want to be abandoned?" the advert asks.
The production of the spot was done in collaboration with the Animal Welfare Coalition and Image 2000 Productions.
The animal welfare campaign is part of a strategy that includes the setting up of an animal welfare council, on which representatives of animal welfare groups will sit.
The marine conservation spot involves underwater footage taken off Dingli Cliffs and shows the natural beauty of the surroundings. The spot ends by depicting scenes of plastic thrown on the sea bed which damages the natural beauty. The spot ends with the words "Look after your environment."
