Three Maltese singers will be taking part in the second edition of the Golden Magnolia Festival in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, later this month.

The young Christabelle Borg and Daniela Grech will take part in the junior and senior categories of the festival, while established singer Lawrence Gray will perform as the main guest artist on both nights of the festival.

Charlò Bonnici, former Maltasong chairman and executive producer of the Malta Song Festivals, has been engaged by the organisers as the producer of this year's festival.

The Maltese singers will be taking part together with nine other singers in the junior category and 13 contestants in the senior categories.

The festival has this year attracted media attention in Louisiana as well as major record companies who will be represented at the event.

Italian singer Andrea Bocelli will be delivering a special message during the event, which will be broadcast by Louisiana Public Broadcasting and a private station.

Christabelle will compete with the popular song Spellbound composed by Philip Vella and lyrics written by Gerard James Borg, while Daniela will sing Colin Zammit Lupi's Can't You See Me.

Contacts with this festival's organisers were first established by Norman Hamilton, vice-president of the International Federation of Festival Organisers.

Mr Bonnici expressed the hope that more Maltese singers will take part in future editions of this festival which was bound to become a yearly appointment for promising singers from different parts of the world.
