Malta International Airport has rebutted claims by the Union Haddiema Maghqudin that MIA staff were being intimidated and threatened by a notice which the management circulated to staff updating them on negotiations which have been in course with the unions on possible changes in shift procedures and the unions' recognition issue.

MIA said the unions were fully aware that there was no intention to reduce the earnings of employees by introducing new shift systems and it could not condone the union's resort to tactics intended to alienate the staff.

MIA added it had every right to keep its employees fully informed on the state of negotiations with the unions.
