Two soldiers were yesterday charged with presenting themselves as policemen, removing a man's personal belongings and damaging his car.

Douglas Desira, 32, of Qormi, and Patrick Kinmont, 36, of Birkirkara, pleaded not guilty to stealing a gold necklace, a watch and a mobile phone from Emanuel Meli in Ghadira on Saturday at about 2.30 a.m.

They were also charged with holding Meli against his will, causing damage to his Peugeot, handling stolen property and committing a crime they were duty bound to prevent.
