The government was paving the way to raise taxes again, Labour deputy leader Charles Mangion charged yesterday.
Speaking at an MLP social activity, Bajjafest, Dr Mangion said the finance minister's recent statements on the country's economy and finances showed that the government's pre-election claims about being on track were just hollow words.
Dr Mangion also criticised the state of the roads, the power cuts and the delay in the opening of the new hospital.
The deputy leader for party affairs, Michael Falzon, said the MLP was holding internal meetings in which everyone could speak freely and more space was being created for everyone within the MLP.
The party would also be reaching out and becoming a more inclusive party without losing its values and principles, Dr Falzon said.
Speaking at the end of the activity, Labour leader Alfred Sant said the MLP would be showing the way towards the future. The MLP would become more credible by continuing to tell the truth, he said.
The government, on the other hand, had no idea how to solve the country's problems.
Dr Sant appealed to young people to move closer to the MLP and to contribute with their ideas.
