For the first time ever on our shores, the Luxol grounds last month hosted an all-girl football nursery on its artificial turf pitches in St Andrew's.

The initiative was a test to see what response the organisers would get. But the experiment proved a success as no fewer than 17 young female prospective footballers attended the training sessions conducted by qualified coach Maria Coppola, who has past experience in nursery football with Birzebbuga and SkolaSport.

The Luxol technical staff is now making a deeper analysis of the all-girl nursery trial but first indications point that the project is likely to be continued in the future.
