40 years of Scouting in Victoria

The Victoria Scouts Group recently held a reunion to mark the group's 40th anniversary.

Among those present were some of the Group's founder members and others who had joined the Group since its foundation in 1963.

The day started with a thanksgiving Mass at St Francis Church, Victoria, concelebrated by the first Group chaplain, Mgr Albert Curmi and Fr Alan Scerri, a former scout.

In his homily, Mgr Curmi recalled the Group's foundation and the many teething problems which had to be faced during its formative years. The sacrifices made have paid off, as can be witnessed by the many former Scouts who today occupy places of responsibility in society.

Mass was followed by a visit to the new headquarters where the guests, accompanied by their families, had the opportunity to rekindle many memories and share their experience during the activities held in their youth. A lunch was later hosted at one of the local hotels.
