With the advent of the widespread availability of airconditioning systems in vehicles, a new fashion appears to have arisen.
While waiting in the queue of cars for the ferry in Cirkewwa, one now inhales not the tangy sea air but foul fumes! For a good number of owners of such vehicles wait for the ferry, sitting blissfully in their cool cars, while the rest have to either open their car windows and choke on the fumes or sit in a closed non-airconditioned car.
The same happens at the end of the sea trip when car engines are ignited far earlier than necessary.
Is this only another example of the inside-outside divide which has so often blighted our lives as a people?
