Business ventures in the agriculture sector between Maltese and Libyan entrepreneurs should be better exploited, according to Libyan Ambassador Ali Nageem.
"Libya is rich in agriculture but, unfortunately, cooperation in this field still has a long way to go," Mr Nageem said yesterday during the opening of a two-day fair of Libyan businesses being held at the Jerma Palace Hotel, in Marsascala.
The fair, which ends today and was inaugurated by Economic Affairs Minister John Dalli, includes agriculture produce, plastic wares, tobacco, tents and carpets.
Mr Nageem said the two-day fair was a good opportunity for local businessmen to establish contact with their Libyan counterparts.
Mr Dalli said the good relations between Libya and Malta should be extended to entrepreneurs of the two countries.
"I can see opportunities for growth and the Maltese have good contacts in Libya so they can tap the market and offer services and products which are suitable for the Libyan market," he said.
