The Maltese Society for the Transportation of the Sick to Lourdes this year organised a pilgrimage to Lourdes for children and young people.

In all 68 children and youths, including a number of them with special needs, enjoyed a week in Lourdes. The group also included group leaders, nurses, carers and other helpers.

The society said it was very grateful to all these helpers who forked out expenses from their pockets. The society also thanked the HSBC Children's Fund and the Community Chest Fund who helped to keep the price of the visit as low as possible. There was also a number of schools which helped.

Apart from the usual religious functions which included an aux flambeau pilgrimage, the children were entertained to various activities.

At the moment the society is in Lourdes with a second group.
