The U-17 football team from Parramatta Eagles Soccer Academy are in Manchester on a 20-day tour in England. The squad is composed of 18 players and six officials.

Since the inception of the Soccer Academy at the Parramatta Melita Eagles in 2001, four players have been sent to Man. Utd for training.

The U-17 squad will be accommodated close to the Carrington Training Complex in Manchester, where they will undergo intensive training sessions under the watchful eyes of the recruitment staff at Old Trafford. The Eagles have schedule, games against Man. City, Everton, Liverpool and Man. Utd.

The squad includes Tony Walmsley (director of coaching), Roger McInerney (head of delegation) and Jim Campbell (coach).

Most of the money for this tour was raised by the players themselves while British Airways are co-sponsors. The squad will return to Sydney on August 12.

The Parramatta Eagles Soccer Academy is a product of the Melita Eagles Soccer Club, which has strong Maltese origins, and the official representatives of Manchester United FC in the Oceania region.

The academy has teams from years 13 to 17 playing in the NSW Premier Youth League.
