The Barumbara Art Café, the brainchild of Tony Aquilina, L-Imgarr Hotel's operations manager, is now officially open.
What was once a simple pizzeria, forming part of L-Imgarr Hotel, has now undergone a dramatic transformation, with its live music, art and food, offering clients a full evening of entertainment in an artistic environment.
The traditionally rustic building will play host to a new art exhibition every few weeks, each time focusing on one particular artist.
The art café will be continuously providing new features for clients to see, admire and even buy, from sculptures to paintings, and classic to modern art. Bands and solo artists from all genres will be performing, be it jazz, folk, rock or pop.
Before the live entertainment, diners are able to enjoy their food in relaxing surroundings with gentle ambient music. Creativity has even been added to the food, with pizza served in different shapes with salad.
During the next few weeks local artist Christopher Saliba will be exhibiting his paintings. Mr Saliba is renowned for his original renderings of local village scenes using unusual colours and perspectives and has held numerous exhibitions in both Gozo and Italy.
The Barumbara is open from 7.30 p.m. till the early hours of the morning, the kitchen taking orders till midnight. Those travelling from Malta are provided with a complimentary transport service from the harbour to L-Imgarr Hotel and back, which can be booked by phone.
