The Front Maltin Nqumu yesterday appealed to all Maltese to bring pressure to bear so that the EU would adopt in its constitution the principles of peace and neutrality as those incorporated in the Constitution of Malta.
The Front argued that when the EU treaty with Malta was signed it became clear that the Island would not move ahead economically but would enter into a state of confusion that would benefit neither Malta nor the EU. A sign of this confusion could be seen in Malta's seaports which were harbouring warships, a fact that was putting Malta in great jeopardy, it said.
The Front said that the Church in Malta ought to play its part especially in view of the fact that the suggestions by the Catholic group that took part in the laying of the new EU constitution were disregarded.
