Ronald Agius, who leaves Allied Newspapers Ltd after 41 years, including 38 years as managing director, will continue to sit on the company's board of directors.

He was elected as director at the annual general meeting on Wednesday which also marked Mr Agius's retirement as managing director.

Mr Agius, who, since 1973, served as chairman and director of Progress Press Co. Ltd, was president of the Malta Employers' Association between 1984-85, director of Mid-Med Bank Ltd, member of the Commonwealth Press Union, member of the Institute of Directors and council member of the Malta Printing Association.

The AGM also marked Wilfrid Asciak's retirement as managing director of Progress Press Co. Ltd. He leaves after a career spanning over 54 years that included stints in the editorial, sports and advertising departments.
