Parking bays

The Swieqi council is currently painting lines for parking bays on the new surface of Triq is-Sidra - a welcome measure.

But why is it refusing to paint yellow lines outside carports, claiming these are not garages? This is the reasoning offered by a Swieqi council representative who was on site when such work was being done. Some neighbours and I facing the same problem objected but to no avail.

Our carport is clearly marked with a sign reading "Garage - No parking" and it appears that the police accept the legitimacy of this as they had cars towed away on two occasions when the carport was blocked.

What we are afraid of is that since no yellow lines exist we will be blocked in or out of our carports as a result
