Malta and Tunisia have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector, particularly to attract tourists coming from long haul destinations.

The subject was discussed in Tunisia at a meeting between Tourism Minister aZammit Dimech and his Tunisian counterpart Mondher Zenaidi.

Mr Zenaidi accepted an invitation by Dr Zammit Dimech to visit Malta to convene a meeting of the mixed commission between the two countries.

In Tunisia, Dr Zammit Dimech presented trophies to Maltese participants in a sailing boat regatta which started in Malta and finished in Hammamet.
