New meaning to 'sleeping policemen'

A traffic hazard that could cause serious injury has been laid across Nathalie Poutiatine Tabone Street, residents of this narrow street in Sliema said.

The traffic hurdle consists of a thick layer of concrete that has been laid across the width of the street where construction of a building is in progress following the demolition of a number of homes. Drivers unaware of this concrete layer risk damaging their cars, not to mention the danger posed to motorcyclists. There is no sign that indicates a no-through road.

Residents have also complained that the "stumbling block" is not lit up at night to warn road users of this danger.
