Constituted bodies representing the commercial sector are to be represented on the board of Malta Enterprise in terms of an amendment to the Malta Enterprise Bill approved by parliament yesterday.

Finance and Economic Services Minister John Dalli said that in terms of the amendment, the constituted bodies representing the commercial sector would nominate five persons from which the minister would select and appoint two to the board.

He said a legal notice would be issued to specify that the organisations deemed to represent the commercial sector for this purpose would be the Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Industry and the GRTU.

Mr Dalli said that in terms of other amendments, the CEO of Malta Enterprise would not be automatically a member of the board but may be invited to sit on the board.
