Two brothers were yesterday given an 18-month jail term suspended for two years and fined Lm25 each for forging excise duty strips on cigarette packets.

Raymund Formosa, 46, of Paola, and Dionysius Formosa, 48, of Zebbug pleaded guilty to two counts of forgery and two of breaching copyright on and before February 26, 2002.

Magistrate Saviour Demicoli heard how the police found seven cigarette packets with forged strips, one packet without a strip and another five empty packets with a forged strip at Kojak Stationery, in Paola.
