Bogdanovic's transfer certificate on the way
Giglio's clearance already sent to MFA
Any lingering doubts about Daniel Bogdanovic's move from ChernoMore Varna to Sliema Wanderers are to be dispelled soon as the player's international transfer certificate is expected to be sent to the Malta FA in next 24 hours.
The 23-year-old Bogdanovic (right) has already begun to train with the Blues after he severed his links with cash-strapped ChernoMore Varna in Bulgaria. He figured in Tuesday's friendly match against the Nigerian Stars selection, which the Maltese champions won 5-1.
Sliema Wanderers official Jeffrey Farrugia, the architect behind the club's successful attempts to sign Bogdanovic and Stefan Giglio, yesterday told The Times that the Malta striker's transfer certificate was in the process of being issued by the Bulgarian FA.
"I have been to the Bulgarian FA this morning to ensure that Bogdanovic's international transfer certificate be issued without further delay," Farrugia told The Times from Bulgaria yesterday.
"Basically, Bogdanovic has been granted a free release by the Bulgarian FA's equivalent to the MFA's Players' and Coaches' Complaints Board because ChernoMore are still without a committee."
Farrugia, who has spent most of the last two weeks in Bulgaria to conclude talks with his club's new signings and their agents, and Giglio are expected back in Malta today.
According to Farrugia, Giglio's international transfer certificate was issued by the Bulgarian FA on Tuesday after the Malta midfielder elected to accept CSKA Sofia's offer of a free release.
The 24-year-old Giglio has signed a one-year contract with Sliema and will be presented to the media at a news conference tomorrow along with the club's other new signings - Bogdanovic, Jamie Pace, Dybrill Sylla and Lee Lombardi.
Sliema Wanderers take on Latvia's FC Skonto in the Champions League first qualifying round on July 16 and 23.
