Maltapost commission Mdina Glass gift

Ahead of the much-publicised Elton John concert at the Floriana Granaries this evening, Maltapost and Mdina Glass teamed up to produce a special gift in glass to commemorate this event and present it to Sir Elton John during his visit.

Shopping around for something unique and yet capturing the spirit of these islands, Maltapost approached Mdina Glass of Ta' Qali, who are known for their unique creations in glass.

Mdina Glass design manager Olivia Said came up with a very novel idea - a beautifully executed frame in glass showing various aspects of Malta's culture, with space in the centre for a First Day Cover of the Elton John Miniature Sheet.

"We are absolutely delighted with the gift, and we are sure Elton John will appreciate it as a reminder of his successful concert in Malta," Maltapost manager communications Tony Barbaro Sant said.

As for Mdina Glass: "We are delighted to have been given this opportunity. We just love these challenges," managing director Joe Said remarked.
