Urgent call for blood

The National Blood Transfusion Centre in Guardamangia has made an urgent appeal for blood of all groups because of the low level of blood supplies during this time of the year.

In a statement, NBTS said the number of donors decreases during summer, but the number of accidents rises.

"We are in a situation where surgical operations and non-urgent blood transfusions may soon have to be postponed. Please do not allow this situation," was the appeal made by the centre.

The centre is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Donors should take their identity card when going to the blood bank.
