A Libyan man was yesterday charged with failing to declare an air rifle, pellets and a telescope on arrival at Malta and trying to export them to Tripoli last month.

Klefah Ali Abdalslam, 60, pleaded not guilty to failing to declare the rifle, five boxes of pellets and the telescope worth Lm59 in total on his arrival in Malta on June 26 and evading Lm3.41 duty.

He also pleaded not guilty to trying to export the rifle, the pellets and the telescope from Malta to Tripoli on June 28, importing, keeping and carrying the rifle and ammunition without a licence and carrying them into and out of a restricted area at the airport.

Abdalslam was remanded in custody.
