Ever wondered where physically you can come into contact with speed boats, cabin cruisers and the like more than at the boat fair in Naxxar? Try going to swim at Ghadira Bay! The number of boats there every day of the summer, especially incredibly on Sundays, is absolutely impossible to count.
What is best is that the largest boats try to go into that part of the bay where the water is less than two metres and most probably even up to just a metre deep.
On the other hand, people like me who travel long to get a glimpse of clean water and bright, golden sand end up in the middle of this boat show, chocking whenever some hero keeps the boat engine on so as to be noticed by other boat owners.
What is more, swimmers cannot even go underneath the water for a few seconds because most of the boats have a motor rubber dinghy to manoeuvre to and fro their boat from the bay or just to add a little suspense to whoever is watching as to which boat they are heading to: is it the 30 or the 40-foot one?!
Hundreds of people head to Ghadira at the weekend, so this is not just my personal matter.
