Ben & Jerry's franchise is today giving out free ice-cream from its outlets and encouraging patrons to make a donation in aid of the Community Chest Fund.

The local franchise, together with franchises in over 10 other countries, is today marking the 25th anniversary from the first Free Cone Day organised by its US founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield.

To add some fun to this event local personalities will be rolling up their sleeves and scooping ice-cream at Cafè Cordina, in Valletta and Cafè Cruz, in St George's Bay.

Free ice-cream will be given out between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Cafè Cordina and from 3 to 7 p.m. at Cafe Cruz. There will also be people in the streets near the Ben & Jerry's outlets giving free cone coupons entitling patrons to a free cone and collecting money for charity.

Gianni Zammit, Xandru Grech, Claire Agius and Ivan Grech of Winter Moods will be scooping ice-cream at Cafè Cordina between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Ira Losco and some of the cast of A Slice of Saturday Night, including John Montanaro, Marc Cabourdin, Chris Dingli, Edward Mercieca, Ruth Sammut, Andrea Pace, Coryse Borg and Pia Zammit will be at Cafè Cruz at some point between 3 and 7 p.m.
