I have no idea who Joe Borg is referring to (June 24) when trying to ridicule or simply discourage Maltese disc jockeys. I have been, and still am, a fervent clubber for the past 15 years. Even though I am not your average 18-year-old in clubs I still enjoy it and have no immediate plans of stopping.
As regards club DJs, the improvement in the past 10 years has been unbelievable. I have been lucky to be able to see some of the world's best DJs playing and I must tell you two of the top 10 in the world are Maltese.
Maltese DJs have learned to adapt and to give the crowd the atmosphere it likes. Very few DJs can do that in the club scene. Also, with some of the world's greatest names coming to Malta over and over again, it must mean there is something right in what we are doing!
As regards Radio DJs, if one has listened to foreign radios recently it would have been noticed that most foreign radios play three or four songs in a row and then come on air saying something totally unrelated. This does not make them senseless or incompetent.
Maybe Mr Borg is a person who has absolutely no trust in the Maltese. Or maybe Mr Borg is just afraid that Malta has the qualifications to become a new and better Ibiza and he fears this change.
Whatever the reasons, please stop knocking Maltese DJs, and not just the DJs, who are just as good and sometimes better than foreigners.
I hope and I am sure this reflects the feelings of true clubbers, that we keep on this road. Malta has so much more to offer.
