The Malta Environment and Planning Authority denied it has sanctioned the construction of a wall which was built without a permit across Wied Ghollieqa, in the limits of San Gwann.
Referring to a statement by Nature Trust (Malta) on the development, the Mepa said it had issued an enforcement notice over the construction of the wall in 2001. The wall adjoins a property for which building permits date back to the 1960s.
The owner applied to sanction the wall and some minor alterations to his residence.
Mepa added that the Development Control Commission had approved the minor alterations but not the wall.
In its decision, the DCC said perimeter walls around the property are to be constructed of rubble stone. No chain link fences will be permitted.
Mepa added that the applicant had been requested to submit fresh plans that meet the DCC's requirements.
The height of perimeter walls around the property remains to be determined.
Mepa added that no permit may be issued before these conditions are met.
