Bartender Richard Pons is today attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the highest number of cocktails prepared in one hour.

The current record stands at 38 long drinks prepared in one hour. It was set last year by a French bartender in the UK.

Mr Pons has been a bartender since 1997 and is a founder member of the Sommelier of Malta Association.

According to Guinness World Records, all cocktails need to be composed of more than three alcoholic ingredients. Mr Pons is abiding by the many other regulations.

The event is being held at Bay Street between 8 and 9 p.m. Singer Ozzy Lino is performing during the event.
