A three year old girl was seriously injured late on Saturday when she fell down the stairs and hit her head, the police said.

The incident happened when the girl lost her balance as she was going up the stairs at her home in Zebbug.

The police said yesterday the fall was accidental.

The girl is not in danger of dying but has been kept in hospital.
