Parliament is due to start debating the bill providing for Malta's accession to the European Union when it meets this afternoon. The bill ratifies the EU accession treaty and makes consequential amendments to a number of laws.

Also on the agenda is the European Parliament Elections Bill, and the Civil Code (amendment) Bill, second reading.
