'Choice' school presentation

Prizes were recently distributed to schoolchildren who this year participated in an educational programme organised by the Malta Tourism Authority called "CHOICE".

The main objective of this programme is to promote careers in tourism and raise awareness among secondary school students about the careers that exist within the tourism industry.

Over 1,300 students participated in the "CHOICE" programme this year. Students from the participating fifteen schools were invited to submit a tourism related project for a competition.

Prizes were awarded during a ceremony organised at the Victoria Hotel. The first prize, a trip to Budapest sponsored by Corinthia Hotels International and Air Malta, was won by Lara Mifsud, Jennifer Shaw and Janet Sultana from St Joseph School, Sliema.

The winning project, entitled "Maltese Culinary Delights", dealt with the production of honey, olive oil and bread. They also produced a calendar for visitors to the Maltese islands. The students' guidance teacher will accompany them on their trip to Budapest.

The second prize, a weekend stay in Gozo sponsored by the Kempin-ski San Lawrenz Resort & Spa, was awarded to Luke Ungaro, Christina Formosa and Jessica Spiteri from St Martin's College. The third prize, a set of limited edition books, was won by Ariana Falzon, Petra Micallef and Krista Cuschieri, also from St Martin's College.

The CHOICE programme was organised with the collaboration of MHRA, FATTA and ITS and will be held again during the next scholastic year.
